Walk C

To Littleton and Christleton (6.5 Kms/4 miles)

From the village follow path no. 3 - The Hollows Path - to the A51 Tarvin Road. Turn right and cross the road and between house numbers 40 and 42 there is a track marked by a footpath fingerpost. Follow this through a wooden gate until the main track, Fir Tree Lane, is reached. (You will come back to this point on your return journey.)
Cross to the opposite stile with a footpath fingerpost above. Continue in the same direction along the edge of the field. After about 400 metres you will reach two large oak trees about ten metres apart. Turn right (west) at the second tree on a narrow path, crossing the stile into the next field upon reaching the hedge. Follow the right hand edge to the corner of the field and continue to a stile near a white house. Go straight ahead along the tarmac drive until Christleton and the pond is reached.
Turn right along Little Heath Road out of Christleton, passing Littleton Old Hall on the right. At the crossroads turn right into Littleton Lane and then right into Fir Tree Lane. After about 400 metres the point is reached where you crossed the lane earlier in the walk. You can either turn left and return to Guilden Sutton by the same route or continue the walk eastwards along Fir Tree Lane.

Continuing to the east, cross the wooden stile and turn immediately right to a second stile, and then left towards a red brick property. Before reaching it turn right over a wooden stile attached to a large oak tree. The path continues to the corner of the fence and turns left. The Garden Nursery is on the right and the A51 Tarvin Road straight ahead. Turn right along the road to the entrance to Vicars Cross Golf Club. The footpath fingerpost lies just beyond the entrance and directs you along a broad track to the back of the club buildings. Turn left and follow the blue marker posts across the golf course along the Byatts Path (No. 4) to Wicker Lane. Turn left into Cinder Lane along the footpath between the hedge and the field, past the wooden bungalow and down the very narrow part of the lane to the Bird in Hand Inn.
